![]() Maps are small and split into 4-5 sub areas and the amount of units that the playar can have on the battlefield has been slashed in half. The 3D sprites lack so much geometry that they don't even look like their character in the 2D profile. I think the downgrade in visuals is to be expected (This is a PSP game afterall) but the graphics in VC 2 are UGLY as hell. The lack of urgency displayed in the story also ruins whatever stakes might have been present. The plot trogs at a very slow pace and is bogged down because you often have to complete side missions before getting to the main story mission (I'll go over this in more detail when I get to the gameplay). The rest of the cast is either forgettable or utterly unlikable and unfortunetely they won't die. A stoic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who wants to get stronger so he can become a hero for the Darcsen.okay not quite like Sasuke but similar in most regards. Cosette is Sakura, the girl who is great with studies and gets pouty when boys don't recognize true love and she is training to become a medic just to make that Sakura profile complete. A head strong, overly positive individual who wins battles by shere luck and stubborness and sucks at school studies. Our 3 protagonists are a copy/paste job ripped streight from the Naruto series. Where as VC 1 gave us an interesting ragtag band of militia soldiers, VC 2 puts us in the most cliche highscho.*ahem* "Military Academy" that you've ever seen, complete with school uniforms and short skirts. All of that is virtually scrapped in VC 2. The story of VC 1 was cheesy but it was also endearing and very engaging. Virtually everything about it is a downgrade. The patch and installation instructions can be found at the Translation Project’s website.I own VC2 for the PSP and trust me when I say this people: This game is NOT worth porting at all. That said, if you loved the first two Valkyria Chronicles games and were disappointed by Sega’s decision not to localize the third, here’s your chance to find out what you were missing. Besides that’s, the patch is only intended for the Extra Edition of the game and still has a few sections of Japanese text that will be ironed out in a later version. For one, it does require custome firmware on your handheld, something that some will likely be uncomfortable with. The patch does come with some caveats, of course. In a blog post the team confirmed that it’s finished a working version of the patch compatible with the digital version of the game on both PSP and Vita. In case, you were wondering, it’s a goal they recently accomplished. Dubbing themselves the Valkyria Chronicles 3 Translation Project, these fans have toiled since 2012 to create a patch that would turn the Japanese text to English. ![]() In turn, Valkyria Chronicles III, the franchise’s second PSP game, was never localized for English audiences.ĭespite the franchise’s poor western sales, it still had its fans however, some of whom decided to commit themselves to making the third game accessible to English speaking gamers. ![]() ![]() A price drop would help it gain momentum later on, but it and its PSP-based sequel never attained the popularity that its publishers at Sega were hoping for. The game was, initially, a notorious bomb in America, selling a mere 33,000 units in its opening month at American retailers. The Valkyria Chronicles 3 Translation Project has released a working patch translating the game’s text into English.īack in the dark early days of the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles was easily one of the console’s best exclusives which, sadly, did little for its sales in the United States.
